Print Auction – Now on!!

PRINT AUCTION – Boards Photobook 2012

The BOARDS.ie 2012 Photo Book was launched on Saturday 1st December and contains the images submitted by the wonderful users of the Boards.ie Photography forum. Book can be purchased here for €36.69 – just enter the code Boards2012

This PRINT AUCTION is organised to raise additional funds for the Santa Strike Force - which was helped set up by Tom Murphy (DeVore) one of the founding members of Boards.ie. The SSF are a really cool charity: in the run-up before Christmas, they start quietly collecting toys and when the big day comes, all the SSF elves help Santa to hand out presents to kids who are staying in not-so-nice places. Places likes hospitals and care-centres.

HOW TO BID

If you wish to bid on a print, please place your bid (minimum bid is €25 and includes postage and charity donation) in the comment below each photograph on pix.ie here or email it to boardsbook@gmail.com

If bidding by email, please include the title and user name as it appears in both the book and the photo on pix.ie. If you would like to bid to a maximum, state what your maximum bid would be and we will then comment on your behalf on pix.ie in increments of €5 up to your maximum. E.g. If the maximum amount you want to bid is €50 and actual highest bid at auction is €30, you will get it for €35.

You will receive an email if your maximum bid is exceeded prior to the auction.

Every book counts!

Every year I try to impress on people the difference even a fiver can make to a charity. Its hard to get across that its the little things that can end up being the most important. Last year we used the money raised to buy, among other things, a rocking chair for a hundred euro for an autistic care centre. We got a message back in January that they had put it straight into use on Christmas Eve to calm a boy who can build his frustration into rage. Instead his carer rocked him in our chair and saved everyone a long evening. Sometimes its something as simple as a 2 euro box of paints that can help a kid make a break through or just forget a condition for a while.

The photobook is one of those ways of raising charitable money that I really like. Its a win for everyone. You get a presentation quality book of some of the best photos of the best photographers in Ireland and for a fraction of what you would pay. We get enough profit/donation to buy more toys and entertainment equipment.

We hope you enjoy your book, the kids enjoy the proceeds very much!

Merry Xmas to you all,
Tom Murphy
