A boards Photobook is not just for Christmas!

First of all – we would like to wish you all the best for 2011!

Secondly – You can still buy the Boards book, as described in this post. Remember, for every book sold, a fiver will be donated to Santa Strike Force, meaning if you buy the book now, they can start collecting funds for Christmas next year!

In the meanwhile, preparations behind the scenes  to compile the 2011 book have started – the Photography Forum on Boards.ie is, as usual, the place to go!

Also: have you checked out the Boards.ie Photography Forum TOP 100 photographs of 2010? It’s definitely worth a look and features many familiar names!

Payment for Submitters is now due.

Payment is now being taken by users who have submitted their image. Like stated on several occasions, by submitting an image to the book, you engaged yourself in purchasing at least one copy.

Details have been posted on the thread on Boards and payment is required before October 29th in order to get printing started.

After that, details will be made available on pricing and purchase options for members of the general public.

To obtain details for payment, you can either use the PM option on Boards or leave a comment here, stating “payment details required” and a method to contact you. For privacy reasons, we recommend the first option.

Any further questions, feel free to get in touch through usual channels.

Work in progess!

The deadline has passed and images are submitted – meaning the though job of designing the book has started! We are all utterly impressed with the quality and variety of work that will be printed in the book, images that will please everyone’s taste! Fantastic landscapes, exciting sport images, delicious portraits. The book will be designed by Eddie and one has to keep in mind that the entire process of compiling the book happens entirely online and on a voluntary basis, which makes it an incredible project. Most submitters might never meet each other – though they might pop in for the book launch and meet some of the other Boardies, of which the date will be announced shortly!

So a big thanks already for everyone who has taken the time and effort to submit their images, and for the team behind the book for steering it all in the right direction. Details will follow soon about when the book will be published and how to purchase it – and remember – all profits go to SSF and will bring a little bit of happiness to sick children.

An official press-release will be published here shortly when all the details are released , publications and/or journalists that wish to cover the story can email boardsphotobook2010 {at} gmail.com for further information.

You can follow-up all details on the book right here, or find us on Facebook, Twitter, or get a sneak peak of some of the images on Pixie and Flickr!

Welcome to the Boards Photo Book Blog!

Welcome to the little home in the interweb of the 2010 Boards Photo Book.

The What-Now PhotoBook?

The BOARDS.ie Photo Book! It will contain images submitted by the wonderful users of the Boards.ie Photography forum. It shows a varied selection of work, by both amateur and professional photographers who attend the forum. There is an incredible amount talent on Boards, and users are both from Ireland and the rest of the world.

Okay, Okay. So, Why do I need to know about this Book?

Glad you asked! We want YOU to BUY the book. Not to feed the ego’s of the photographers (though it’s a nice added bonus), but because the proceeds of the book are donated to a good cause. So the more books sold, the more funding collected.

A Good Cause? Do Tell me More!

Like previous years – all funds go directly to Santa Strike Force – which was helped set up by Devore, one of the founding members of Boards. The SSF are a really cool charity: in the run-up before Christmas, they start quietly collecting toys and when the big day comes, all the SSF elfs help out Santa to hand out presents to kids who are staying in not-so-nice places. Places likes hopsitals and care-centres. So, by buying the book as a christmas present for someone, you automatically also buy a present that the hospitals and care centres can use yearlong to make wee little ones happier! How great and easy is that huh…

You can follow-up all details on the book right here, or find us on Facebook, Twitter, or get a sneak peak of some of the images on Pixie and Flickr!

More details about pricing and how to order will be made available soon.
